Yes. My son is a beginner and we replaced his Itech 255 with this. It is a solid pad with some great features that most pads at this price point don't have. It has solid protection that a more experienced player would need also. I plan to stay with this line now as my son grows and keep him in these as long as they have a size that will fit him.

These will definetely work for an experienced youth player. They have solid protection, but still maintain a high comfort level to allow for nice mobility. Designed for players still developing and learning the game.
