I apologize that there is no XL on the chart. The sizing is 5'4" - 5'7" and 27"-29" waist.

Tough call weather to go with a medium or bump it up to a large. I would suggest testing out the larges. I say so because the waist, most importantly, will fit fine and the length might start off a little long but as he grows the more perfect fit they will be.
