You use these for dryland training, I haven't heard of players using on the ice - I suppose you could create a drill to use them on the ice, but they are best suited for dryland.

The Lateral Speed Resistor is a training tool that is used off ice with either shoes on or off. It is not recommended to use this product while on skates.

The lateral speed resistor is designed to improve lateral speed, agility, and balance by resisting hip or lateral movements. Both ends of the resistor are place around the ankles, and various exercises can thus be performed.
