Questions & Answers for Easton Synergy EQ40 Ice Skate

Question
EQ40's or Vapour 5.0's?
Which skate is the better one for comfort, performance and durability?

Hi - I was considering the Supreme One4 before I bought the EQ40. The 5.0 and EQ40 would be a tough choice among two great skates.

In the end, I went with Easton because I use their equipment for every other piece of equipment and sticks - and like fit / performance of everything.

I'm not sure if the 5.0 is reduced priced, but if you can get the EQ40 for $200 now, like I did, you can't go wrong. Plus, you'll stand out a little more - everybody wears Bauers.

Comfort is going to be different for each person. Shape of your foot, the way you stand, and so on will dictate how the skates feel on your foot. The EQ 40 is a wider fit than the Vapor 5.0. Personally I prefer the performance and fit of the Vapor skates. Durability is a wash in my view.

answer 3
This would boil down to a fit preference. The Easton skates have a tendency to have "tight" points versus the vapor being aggressively designed with a little space for flexing and moving for an offensive player. If you play defense I'd try the EQ if you are offensive as a player I would try the vapor.

Question
S17 vs EQ40?
I play defense and wear a Bauer Vapor X:40 in size EE. Which skate would be best suited for me, S17 or EQ40?

You may want to consider the EQ 40 skates over the S17's. Both are excellent choices. Although slightly heavier than the S17's, the EQ40 skates are made slightly wider in the mid and fore foot areas, which may be more comfortable for you.

The Easton EQ 40 is the better of the two skates. The EQ40 is also a very light skate weighing only 1.87 lbs. It has a full composite boot construction which includes such benefits as comfort, stiffness, and protection. The Microfiber liner makes for a more comfortable skate and the Dry-Flow outsole construction and aids in ventilating moisture out of the footbed through the bottom of the skate.

Question
Would the LS2 holder fit the EQ40?
If so, could I purchase the EQ40's, the LS2 holder, and the LS2 power runners and have them installed by Total Hockey?

Yes, you can install a LS2 holder on a Easton EQ40 skate, it would require new holes to be drilled but does not effect the integrity of the skates. Total Hockey would be able to install them for you for a installation fee.

Question
Easton SBX vs. EQ40
I wear the Easton SBX now and looking to purchase the EQ40. Is the fit similar? I have a narrow foot and need a good heal lock.

The EQ line will not fit similar to the SBX's. The EQ line has a wide fit throughout the boot. If you want to stay in an Easton skate that will have a narrow fit you may want to look at the Stealth line.
