The Vaughn 9400 chest protector is an intermediate level unit. If you're playing occasionally at a beginner level, this should be a good unit for you.

For someone playing a high level of hockey almost every day of the week, I would recommend a pro level chest guard. This will give you maximum protection without breaking down from excessive use. The Vaughn 9500 would be the pro version of this chest and arm unit.
