Yep, it's grippy- I'm not sure what good it does. I guess it holds the tape better, but I've never had a problem with tape slipping on a smooth blade

Yes, this blade does have a sand paper like feel/texture to it. I believe Easton calls it a non-skid coating.

The tapered Mako blade should have no problems fitting into an APX tapered shaft. Both are designed to fit 0.520 tapered shafts.
