With the RS bag you'll find that it has a fleece lined helmet pocket to keep your helmet free from scratches from other pieces of equipment. A nice big U shape top flap opening for easy access and clOsure. The RS bag is designed with PVC coated 840D Ripstop/Polyester with the thought in mind of how hard hockey players and their equipment can be on their bag.

How are the skates supposed to fit in the pockets?
Skates 9.5 -- are a challenge to fit in--are we doing something wrong? We have the RS Stealth backpack model without the wheels.

I was able to get a size 11 skate into both pockets without much trouble. Have you tried putting the skates in "upside down"?
