The difference is the upgrade in technology used on the E700. It is the top of the line Easton helemt currently and has some higher end materials (EPP foams) that keep it lightweight but still protective.

Question
J Clips
Are the J clips optional? If my nephew uses them the helmet bounces around and is very loose. But if he doesn't use them it fits fine. For his safety I need to know if these are optional.

I would say if he does not use them and the helmet and cage are fitting securely on his head then go with that. The overall safety is the biggest concern with younger hockey players. I would think the clips would keep it in place more but in some cases, like yours, that is not the case.
