It is recommended, but not necessary in most cases. For example, a large facemask will be able to fit an XL helmet.

Yes the Krown should be able to fit. It will require some adjusting to make it work. Ideally you would want keep the sizing within one size of each other if you can't match the cage size with the helmet size exactly.
