No - the Bauer Elite's have more of a barrel fit, which has a wide, non-tapered opening.

I would probably recommend a medium. If you like to tuck your chest guard inside your pants, than you may want to bump up to the large size. I always recommend going bigger with goalie pants because you will have maximum coverage. You can use suspenders to help keep them up.

As long as you've looked at the sizing chart and confirmed that the waist sizing is fine also, then yes - the XL should be big enough.

Your best bet would be to go with a size large, as the other sizes won't fit your waist. The legs will be long though.

Have you considered the Warrior Ritual goal pant? These pants all have a 42" waist (with an internal belt), but the legs are sized appropriately to fit. So - you're really fitting leg size rather than waist size. Chances are that this will be a better fit for you.
