In my shopping experience, I checked the U+ 06 and up, and I didn't notice any difference in those tongues other than the 'venting' that you get with the U+ 10 and up. All seemed of average thickness, but not very flexible and (probably) designed to wear the shin guard over the tongue. On the Midnight's, though, the tongue seems unlike any of the other CCM tongues. It's much thicker, and it definitely allows for 'flop' if that's something you look for. I wear my shins under the tongue, and the flop after a few months is pretty substantial. I wouldn't say a downgrade, per se, but different.
